After getting FSSAI FoSCoS registration, any registered Food Business Operator (FBO) can change or update their Food License information if needed. This process is called FSSAI Modification.

The Indian Government’s Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, manages the FSSAI Modification process. This process is controlled by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

Who Can Apply for FSSAI License Modification?

According to the latest notice from the FSSAI FoSCoS authority, only certain types of Food Business Operators (FBOs) can apply for a modification. These include:

  1. Registered Food Business Operators
  2. Food Manufacturers
  3. Food Processing Units
  4. Food Repackers
  5. Food Re-labelers
  6. Food Distributors

  • Resubmit all the documents that were provided when applying for the FSSAI License.

Points to be Remembered for FSSAI License Modification

  • The Food Business Operator (FBO) can choose only one modification category at a time during the FSSAI Modification process, as required by the Food Licensing authority.
  • Food manufacturers or processors who have a Food License in the wrong category must get their license modified.
  • If an FBO wants to add a new business, change the business address, update contact details, or change the product category, they must file for FSSAI License Modification.
  • The FSSAI Designated Officer (D.O.) will review the modification application. The D.O. may ask the FBO for more information, and the FBO must reply within 30 days.
